Terms of Reference:  

Expert on investigative journalism 

 

Introduction: 

Deutsche Welle Akademie in the framework of the project ‘’Digital innovation for peace’’, funded by the European Union, is looking to engage an expert to provide training on cross border collaboration of investigative journalism reports.  This initiative is aligned with our commitment to empowering media professionals and journalists, particularly those operating in conflict-affected areas, to enhance their skills in navigating the evolving landscape of media and information. The training is expected to be implemented between June-August2024. 

“Digital innovation for peace” is a project aiming to make societies in the MENA region, specifically Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon, more resilient to disinformation and supportive to the promotion of peace in the digital space. 

 

Objectives:

  1. Equip Participants with Essential Skills: Provide journalists with essential skills and knowledge required for successful cross-border investigative journalism projects. 
  1. Promote Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration among journalists from different countries and backgrounds, encouraging the sharing of resources, expertise, and networks. 
  1. Enhance Investigative Techniques: Enhance participants’ investigative techniques and methodologies, focusing on cross-border research, source verification, and data analysis. 

 

Responsibilities:  

  1. Designing and delivering a comprehensive 4-day training program online via Zoom.
  2. Developing training materials, including presentations and interactive activities.
  3. Facilitating discussions and practical exercises to reinforce key concepts.
  4. Submitting a detailed training report, including participant assessments and recommendations for future programs.
  5. Provide a short summary of the training highlights and an article for 1 day.

 

Duration and time frame:  

The contract will be issued for a maximum of 5 working days, and 2 day of preparation. The implementation period is between June-August 2024. 

 

Remuneration and payment: 

Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications in PDF, including a detailed CV, indicating their relevant experience, and a proposed daily rate for the training program.  

Payment will be processed in Euro via bank transfer upon successful completion of the training program and submission of an invoice.
