Terms of Reference for Fact checking Trainer
Introduction:
Deutsche Welle Akademie in the framework of the project ‘’Digital innovation for peace’’, funded by the European Union, is looking to recruit a qualified expert for a 3-day Fact checking training program. This initiative is aligned with our commitment to empowering media professionals and journalists, particularly those operating in conflict-affected areas, to enhance their skills in navigating the evolving landscape of media and information. The training is expected to be implemented in June 2024.
“Digital innovation for peace” is a project aiming to make societies in the MENA region, specifically Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon, more resilient to disinformation and supportive to the promotion of peace in the digital space.
Objectives:
- Equip participants with essential ethical considerations in reporting during the spread of misinformation.
- Foster critical thinking and analytical abilities in media professionals.
- Enhance participants’ understanding of Fact-checking techniques and tools for journalists.
- Strengthen the capacity to counter disinformation and promote accurate reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and delivering a comprehensive 3-day training program online via Zoom.
- Developing training materials, including presentations and interactive activities.
- Facilitating discussions and practical exercises to reinforce key concepts.
- Providing individual and group feedback to participants.
- Submitting a detailed training report, including participant assessments and recommendations for future programs.
- Provide a short summery of the training highlights.
Duration and time frame:
The contract will be issued for a maximum number of 4 days for training, and 2 days preparation. The implementation period is in June 2024.
Remuneration and payment:
Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications in PDF, including a detailed CV, indicating their relevant experience, and a proposed daily rate for the training program.
Payment will be processed in Euro via bank transfer upon successful completion of the training program and submission of an invoice.
