Call for Consultant/trainer on Media and Information Literacy (MIL)

Consultant/trainer on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) for DW Akademie’s project, Media in Libya – Immune against Disinformation.

  1. Introduction

 DW Akademie is Germany’s leading organization for international media development. As an integral part of Germany’s international public broadcaster Deutsche Welle, it supports the development of free and transparent media systems by strengthening journalistic quality and media competency. DW Akademie has been working in Libya in the fields of media development and journalism training for over a decade. Its projects are funded by the German Foreign Office and the European Union. Within this project, and with the support of DWA’s local trainers, DWA aims to improve young people media education and strengthen their participation in the development of their society by facilitating access to independent and accurate information and focus on Media and Information Literacy (MIL). The project activities are predominantly aimed at Libyan youth.

DW Akademie is looking for a consultant/trainer for MIL to plan and train MIL workshops for local Libyan trainers and conduct individual coaching on the topic of MIL between November and December 2021.

  1. Objectives and Scope of work

 DW Akademie is commissioning a service contract for a MIL consultant/trainer for its Libyan project. The starting date of the contract will be confirmed in accord with the applicant.

Scope of work

Under this section, the proposed methods for organizing the training/couching on MIL will be identified, by the following tasks:

  • Conducting short-term MIL online workshops for Libyan trainers (language of instruction Arabic/ English),
  • Creating training plans and materials in Arabic/ English,
  • Contributing material for MIL manuals and textbooks in Arabic/ English,
  • Developing curricula and training modules,
  • Conceptual advice on MIL projects for DW Akademie Libyan Team.
  • Conduct the evaluation of the training.
  • Report on the conducted trainings.
  1. Required skills:

 The applicants should have:

  • In-depth knowledge and skills in the field of MIL,
  • Considerable experience as a MIL trainer and consultant,
  • Solid knowledge and skills in the field of media and social media,
  • Current knowledge of media usage, media legislation and media literacy in the region,
  • Didactical skills, especially in the field of participatory training methods,
  • Intercultural sensitivity,
  • Experience in using online learning tools.
  1. Duration and time frame

 The contract will be issued for a maximum number of up to 07 service days and 02 preparation days, in November-December 2021.

  1. Payment and deliverables

The consultant can send an Invoice at the end of each month. The payment will be made in Euro via bank transfer.
