Translation of text, audio and video transcription
Introduction:
Deutsche Welle Akademie in the framework of the EU funded project ‘Digital Innovation for Peace’ requires the services of a professional translator to facilitate accurate and reliable translation services. The translator will be responsible for translating various texts, and materials from the Arabic to English. Also the translator should be familiar with youthful media content that can transcript different content pieces produced in the framework of the current project activities. The duration of the mission will be from August 2023. The estimated working days are a maximum of 30 days depending on the needs of the translation and video/audio productions in different project activities.
Scope of work:
The translator task will consist of:
- Translate written documents, including but not limited to reports, articles, from the source language [Arabic] to the target language [English].
- Transcription of audio and video from the source language [Arabic] to the target language [English].
- Translation of subtitles of videos and audio in Arabic to English with specific time code.
- Maintain the original meaning, tone, and style of the source content while adapting it to the target language and cultural context.
- Conduct thorough research and utilize appropriate reference materials to ensure accurate translation, especially for technical or specialized subjects.
- Review and proofread translated documents for quality assurance, ensuring proper grammar, syntax, and terminology usage.
- Collaborate with project managers, subject matter experts, and other relevant personnel to clarify any ambiguous or unclear content in the source documents.
- Adhere to specified deadlines and provide regular updates on the progress of translation assignments.
Required skills:
- Fluency in both the source language [Arabic Language] and the target language [English Language], with exceptional proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Proven experience and expertise in professional translation, preferably with a minimum of two years’ experience.
- Proficiency in using translation software, computer-assisted translation tools, and other relevant technology.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate and error-free translations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple translation projects simultaneously.
- A recognized certification or degree in translation or a related field is desirable but not mandatory.
- Familiar with the MENA culture and dialect
Deadlines and delivery:
All deadlines of work submission will be coordinated with the project team.
Remuneration and Payment:
Rate of payment will be per number of pages/day. Please submit with your offer a clear table listing the type of tasks (Text translation, Transcript) and the cost of each item.
Upon submission of the /transcripted/ translated documents, the Translator could submit the invoices once a month. The payment will be made in Euro via bank transfer.
